Why I started this

When I first moved to the UK I had the certificates to prove I knew English, diplomas, exam scores, the whole list. On paper I looked fluent. In real rooms I disappeared. My heart would pound in real conversations. My ideas would form in my head and then vanish the moment I tried to speak. That feeling of invisibility followed me for years.
It wasn’t a lack of effort. I had studied, I loved the language, I taught it. The problem was the space between knowing English and using it with confidence. Every course I took taught rules and tests; none of them taught courage.
That’s why I started English for Ladies. I wanted a place I never had: a practical, women-only space where making mistakes is part of learning, where speaking is practised, not punished. A place that treats English as a tool to open doors, opportunities, not as another exam to hide behind.
We don’t chase perfection here. We build the small, steady habits that turn silence into voice: short challenges, structured meetups, and honest feedback from women who know what it’s like.
